Trivandrum has seven hills with a mix of English and traditional buildings along the seaside. The city has museum, art galleries and zoo as the main attraction. The Padmanabhaswamy Temple is the most famous tourist spot in the city.

The city has good water tourists’ spots. One is the Thiruvallam and Aruvikkara Dam. The latter is near the Durga Temple with fish that are fed by visitors. The Napier Museum, built in the 19th century, houses a collection of architectural artifacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments and chariots and ivory carvings. The Sree Chithra Art gallery is just near the Napier Museum which displays paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Svetlova and Nicholas Roerich. There are also paintings from Japan, China, Tibet and Bali. The Kanakakunnu Palace is used for cultural meetings and programs. The Science and Technology Museum Complex exhibits related to science. Chacha Nehru Childrens Museum is ideal for children because it displays a collection of dolls, masks and stamps. Another scientific spot in the city is the Observatory located in the highest point of the city and one can see the captivating view of the city below.

Thiruvananthapuram also has natural parks and zoo that is perfect for a family gathering. The Zoological Park is one of the first in India with enormous trees like frangipani and jacaranda and animals like wild fowl just swimming in the lake.
