Honeymoon is probably the most essential time for married couple to explore the likes and interests of each other in a fun and relaxed way. This solace is very important in moulding the spark of their relation to give a solid base of mutual respect, understanding & compatibility. There is no doubt that this is the most romantic time a couple witnesses in their life owing to the strong initial attraction and little resistance between them and how they submit them to each other for the whole life.
Usually, when a romantic alliance is fixed there are speculations about the honeymoon destination in the gang of girls from the bride’s side as if it is going to happen before other important functions…! 😉
Everybody has their own choice of destination where they wish to spend their most precious time after marriage. Many choose a beach destination while mostly opt for a hill station. Here, I am putting to some hill stations of North India which become an obvious choice for most of the couples who get married in the summer season.

Gulmarg in Jammu & Kashmir-
Gulmarg is a beautiful hill station located in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. It is one of those rare places in India which is naturally endowed with the beautiful meadows and landscape. The picturesque view of Gulmarg has made it a famous shooting spot for various Bollywood movies. It is perfectly nestled in the lap of Himalayas and lies within miles of the range of Line Control between India & Pakistan.
Gulmarg literally means meadow of flowers and is known to possess a vast variety of wild flowers.
Gulmarg is known to have the highest green golf course in the world which is at an altitude2,650 meters. Another attraction associated with this place is the location of one of the Premier Ski Resorts of the country as it receives heavy snowfall during the winter season.
Gulmarg is at a distance of 52km from Srinagar, which is another beautiful place to visit in Jammu & Kashmir. One can easily reach Gulmarg by air from the nearest airport in Srinagar or alternatively by car or bus.
Manali in Himachal Pradesh
Manali is a small hill station in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh and is popularly called as Kullu Manali. The beautiful town is located along the Beas river valley and has an altitude of 2050 meters. Manali lies adjacent to the beautiful city of Shimla which is also one of the favorite destinations of newlywed couples. Manali lies to the north of Shimla and is a t a distance of 270km.
The climate remains moderately cool even during summers and that is the main reason that people from all over North India are attracted to visit the town during summers.
Due to the disturbances in the Kashmir region of Jammu & Kashmir, this hill station gained immense popularity and tourists from all over the world come to enjoy the snowfall it receives.
The beautiful view of the hills laden with snow is simply irresistible and captivating to the eyes.
One can reach Manali by air very easily as a number of flights are well connected by the Kullu Manali airport. One can reach Manali by road too. The distance between Manali and two of the nearest metropolitan cities of Delhi & Chandigarh is 533km & 273km respectively.
Aaahh.. what to say about this beautiful place in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. I have been there in my teen years and I was mesmerized to see the hills. As we drove up to the hill station, we could see the clouds floating with us. The view of the adjacent valley is astonishing as well as frightening. One needs to hold their breath while going up the hill station. People who have problem of motion sickness are likely to suffer on the way so be prepared in advance.
Mussoorie is another hill station which is famous as a tourist destination as well as an educational hub for many secondary residential institutions. The majestic Shivalik Ranges and Doon valley are the main attractions of Mussoorie. Mussoorie is the abode of the renowned LalBahadurShastri National Academy of Administration which is a training academy for Indian Administrative Service & Indian Police Service.
Another amazing experience one can have is to experience the ride to the second highest peak in Mussoorie which is Gun Hill. My favorite place in Mussoorie is Kempty falls which is located at a distance of 15km from Mussoorie. The water is chilled and exceptional in front of the eyes.
Mussoorie is at a distance of 35km from Dehradun and at a distance of 290km from Delhi and is easily accessible through airways & roadways.
Shimla in Himachal Pradesh
Shimla or Simla is the capital state of Himachal Pradesh and Britishers declared it as their Summer Capital. Shimla is known for attracting many tourists from all over the world. It is surrounded by the beautiful Hill station Manali in the north.
Shimla is also one of the places where some premier educational institutes in the country are located. Shimla is known for its colonial heritage monuments, buildings, lamp posts and makes it purely a must see place. The Kalka-Shimla Railway Line which is declared as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO is another great attraction in Shimla.
Shimla has very rich culture and traditions which reflects in the arts and crafts available in the hill station. Shimla is very well connected through roadways from all the major cities of North India like Chandigarh, Haridwar, Amritsar, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur etc. Shimla has all the three major transport means of airways, railways & roadways and one can easily reach there and enjoy the beauty of the place.
Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir
Pahalgam is a beautiful town located in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir. Pahalgam is mainly associated with the pious Amarnath Yatra which takes place in the holy month of Sawan. It is definitely a favorite place for many honeymoon going couples because of the exceptional scenic beauty it offers and also because it is one the famous shooting locations of many Bollywood movies of the 90′s.
Betaab Valley which is famous on the name of the movie Betaab which was shot here is an alluring place to see there. It is located at a distance of 15km from Pahalgam. There is a beautiful meadow in Pahalgam called Baisaran which is known as Mini Switzerland. Couples who love adventure can also opt for trekking in this region and make their honeymoon a memorable one.
The short & mild summer season in Pahalgam makes it a lovely place to visit throughout the year. One can easily reach Pahalgam by train route to Jammu and there after by road to Srinagar and Anantnag district.
